AFTER A VICIOUS FIGHT, A WOMAN SIMMERS WITH ANGER AS SHE HEADS HOME THROUGH BROOKLYN’S THREATENING STREETS. WHEN SHE’S ATTACKED, HER FIERCEST SELF TAKES OVER TO FIGHT FOR HER LIFE. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, BRUISED AND BEATEN, SHE PURGES AND CLEANS.
Consommé is a six-minute subversive thriller/horror film which begs the question: What is an appropriate response to sexual violence? Sparse, raw, cathartic, and humorously visceral, Consommé screams out like 90s feminist punk rock — Bikini Kill in pictures. A young woman’s fiercest self takes over to fight for her life when’s she attacked.
At festivals, Consommé inspires heated discussion, questions and comments like this one from a young woman during a Q&A: “It was so inspiring and satisfying to see a woman fight with everything she has.
Consommé is a rallying cry to the lions who live in us all — it says enough is enough.
